Portland Bill Lighthouse on the Jurassic Coast near Weymouth, Dorset
Shore Excursion from Portland Port

Jurassic Coast Tour from Portland

The Jurassic Coast Tour from Portland is our most popular shore excursion for cruise passengers. In a single half-day tour, you'll visit three of Dorset's most iconic landmarks — the natural limestone arch of Durdle Door, the perfectly formed Lulworth Cove, and the thousand-year-old ruins of Corfe Castle. We meet you at Portland Port, take you there in a comfortable minibus with an expert local guide, and have you back on board well before your ship sails.

Tour Itinerary

Durdle Door

Our first stop is Durdle Door, one of the most photographed landmarks in Britain. This spectacular natural limestone arch was formed by the sea eroding a weakness in the rock over thousands of years. Your guide will explain the geology behind its formation, and you'll have time to walk down to the beach and photograph the arch from the cliff path above. Learn more on our Durdle Door tours page.

Lulworth Cove

Just along the coast from Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove is a near-perfect circular bay formed by the sea breaching softer rock behind a resistant chalk barrier. We stop here for a longer break — there's a café, a heritage centre, and a beautiful beach to explore. This is also a good spot to grab a bite to eat. See our Lulworth Cove tours page for more.

Corfe Castle

Our final stop is Corfe Castle, a thousand-year-old ruin standing on a steep hill in the heart of Purbeck. Your guide will share the castle's dramatic Civil War history, and you'll have time to explore the ruins and take in the panoramic views across the Purbeck countryside. Learn more on our Corfe Castle tours page.

Portland Port Departure

Portland Port is located on the Isle of Portland, connected to the mainland by the famous Chesil Beach. It's an ideal departure point for a Jurassic Coast tour — Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are less than 30 minutes away by minibus, and Corfe Castle is within easy reach. We meet you directly at the port exit, so there's no need to arrange separate transport. Your guide will be wearing one of our company shirts and holding a white board with all guests' names.
